SAP Business One is based on a client/server architecture of two levels.

Country versions are continually being developed to meet the specific requirements of the country.

SAP Business One includes a service manager and service for sending emails, faxes and SMS from SAP Business One (mail service) and create regular backups of databases (backup service). Remote support platform (RSP) is an automated tool that supports global support to proactively monitor the status of maintenance and integrity of the database and send the results to SAP support.

SAP Business One provides general functions covering all business areas as well as some innovative improvements, such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), contact management, and user-defined values.

The server runs a database server memory as a central database (Microsoft SQL Server). Most of the application resides on the client ("Client thick"). This implies that management is performed locally and is independent of the performance servidor. La user interface has been translated into most major languages and users can switch between the languages they need.

SAP offers a software development kit (SDK) for SAP Business One can use this kit to add their own functions programmed in Visual Basic (VB), C/C++ and Java. The SDK runs on the server or the client, depending on the purpose. An integration platform (B1i) provides an interface to integrate SAP Business One system infrastructure of a larger company.
